It will be the new year before the former truck driver who admitted to causing the deadly Humboldt Broncos bus crash learns whether he'll be deported once he finishes serving his eight-year-sentence.

The Canada Border Services Agency is to write a report recommending whether Jaskirat Singh Sidhu (JASS'-kihr-at SING sih-DOO') be allowed to stay in his adopted country or be sent back to India.

The deadline for the paperwork to be submitted was November 28th, but Sidhu's lawyer says that has been extended until the end of this month.

Michael Greene says he submitted his original 415-page submission earlier this year and the border agency wanted to give him the opportunity to update the information -- which he plans to do.
