Fire officials are investigating an early morning house fire that sent one person to hospital and damaged a Weston area home. 

Shortly before 4 a.m.,  the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a single-family bungalow in the 2100 block of Gallagher Avenue.

When crews arrived at the scene, they found the house engulfed in smoke and flames. They were able to enter the house and fight the fire from inside.

Firefighters found one person in the home and brought them to safety. They were transported to hospital in critical condition. 

No other injuries were reported. 

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
