A 68-year-old man is in hospital in unstable condition after getting run over by his own vehicle during a Monday-morning carjacking.

On April 20, 2020, at 8:41 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of Bannerman Avenue and Charles Street after an injured elderly male had seen lying in a back lane. Upon arrival, officers located the 68-year-old male and determined that he had been run over by his vehicle after he had been carjacked.

The 68-year-old victim was getting into his vehicle when he was confronted by two suspects; a female and a male. He was subsequently struck with an object and pulled out of the car. The suspects then fled in the vehicle and drove over the victim, causing serious injuries and leaving him in the back lane. The victim was later transported to hospital in unstable condition after being found by police.

A 16-year-old female of Winnipeg has been charged with:

  • Robbery
  • Aggravated Assault
  • Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance
  • Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer
  • Operation of a Conveyance While Prohibited by Order Under Criminal Code

She was detained in custody.
