There will be some road closures along Portage Avenue in front of the MTS Centre to accommodate the build of the red carpet for The 2014 JUNO Awards.

The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) and The JUNO Awards are making efforts to communicate with local businesses and ticket holders to minimize the impact on traffic and the community but respectfully remind people to consider these closures when planning travel in the downtown core near the MTS Centre, and to expect delays in particular on Sunday, March 30.  

The following road closures will be in effect:

Portage Avenue Eastbound (all lanes)
1 block between Hargrave Street and Donald Street
Friday, March 28 at 9:00 p.m. until Monday, March 31 at 2:00 a.m.

3 blocks between Kennedy Street and Hargrave Street  (divert south on Kennedy Street)
Sunday, March 30 at 4:30 p.m. until Sunday, March 30 at 11:30 p.m.
(Cross streets will remain open to traffic with the exception of Hargrave as indicated below)

Hargrave Street Northbound (all lanes)
St. Mary Avenue to Portage Avenue
Sunday, March 30from 4:30 p.m. to  7:30 p.m.
Open for local traffic to public parking lots and red carpet vehicles only
*All cityplace lots accessible from Hargrave remain open for public event parking

Carlton Street Southbound (east side curb lane and adjacent lane)
Portage Avenue to Graham Avenue
Sunday, March 30from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Back lane between Carlton & Hargrave, south of Portage
Sunday, March 30 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Hargrave from St. Mary to Graham reverse flow for egress per Jets game protocol
Sunday, March 30from 9:45 p.m. to11:30 p.m.

Pedestrian and sidewalk traffic may be diverted in some places along Portage Avenue, particularly on the south side of the street. The red carpet will take place inside an enclosed structure on Portage Avenue with a closed private viewing audience. There is no public viewing location available for red carpet arrivals to the MTS Centre for The 2014 JUNO Awards.

Following The 2014 JUNO Awards, all intersections will be open to public traffic and vehicle egress will be managed by the Winnipeg Police Service to facilitate road closures and diversions.
