Winnipeg Art Council's art bus tour coming up this February is officially sold out, but the waiting list has slots available.

For the last few years, the Winnipeg Art Council has provided a safe form of transportation for families and friends to enjoy the public artwork our city has to offer. With an accessible bus in use, art lovers will be able to tour the city and visit ten art pieces in various different hubs. The tour takes place on February 22 and March 22.

Alexis Kinloch from the WAC says "there will be old favourites involved and also a few new ones that have just gone up that we haven't toured before including Watershed at St. Anne's and St. Mary's. We will also be looking at a new wall mosaic piece at the soon-to-be-opened brand new Windsor Park library branch called Tributaries."

Kinloch says that the pieces were selected with viewing them in the evening in mind. "While they might have a certain character in the day, they have special qualities in the night. Some are interactive and involve using your hands. It's really a tour that's suitable for our early-dark, winter climate."

The first four pieces Untitled, THE Illumination, emptyful, and Waterfall #2 are at the Millenium Library: the meeting place for the bus tour. Five other art pieces, DIY Field, YOU YOU + YOU, Monument, Tributaries, and Watershed, will be visited over a span of three hours with the tour concluding at the final piece entitled Écobuage at the St. Vital duck pond.

Kinloch says that they will end up there "with the fires roaring, with hot chocolate, and with snacks to take in this functional artwork."

Though they may be out in the cold temporarily, passengers will be getting relief with the warmth of the bus, the fire, and the pavilion at St. Vital Park.

"We always have a lot of fun on the bus with giving out prizes. Everyone gets tickets and a chance to win. In-between art pieces we draw for prizes. These range from tickets, to coffee bags, to memberships. They're always desirable prizes."

Though tickets are already sold out, the Winnipeg Arts Council website has a link with information to get on the waiting list for slots that may become available.
