NON-VERBAL BOY MAKES ORNAMENTS FOR NEIGHBOURS

The pandemic inspired many people to pick up new hobbies, and for Spencer Gamey, his crafty activity did not let up once restrictions did. The five-year-old continues to distribute hand-made ornaments to his neighbourhood to spread Christmas cheer.

"One lady actually waited by her door for us to come by so she could hand him some Smarties. There were people outside waiting for a cab to a Christmas party and as soon as they saw us, the lady jumped out and said, 'It's Spencer and his family with this year's ornament. We're so excited.' It's turned into a tradition we're going to do as long as we possibly can," says his mom Sabrina.

Just like the CHVN year in-review articles, our annual Christmas movies made in Manitoba article got a lot of attention. 

There were seven new movies that featured Manitoban views, including Winnipeg, Carmen, Morden and other surrounding areas. It should not come as a surprise to the number of films shot in the province, which is a strong contribution to the film industry.

PORTAGE WOMAN SHARES KIDNAPPING STORY

What was a quick trip to get the mail, quickly turned into a life-changing event for Bailee Scott when a random stranger jumped in her vehicle demanding that she drive him to Winnipeg with her daughter in the back seat.

Scott managed to keep calm while she drove the man to the city, he insisted that there were men trying to kill him and he needed to get away. As soon as he stepped out of the vehicle to get a taxi, the terrified woman drove away to safety.

THE MYSTERY OF WINNIPEG'S ICONIC CHRISTMAS DISPLAY IS SOLVED, AND MORE IS UNCOVERED

Back in 2019, the CHVN thought they had uncovered the story of the Wise Men and Camels on top of the Canada Life building on Osbourne after talking to Suzanne Gauthier, however. newly discovered this year is that she did not work alone.

Peter Rempel, who was simply a cabinetmaker, assisted Gauthier on the project. Rempel's son and daughter-in-law joined Mike Thom in sharing his exhilarating and courageous story of how he ended up in Winnipeg working at Reimer Displays which is where he met Gauthier.
