The Winnipeg Police Service has determined that a pair of recent homicides are linked, alleging the incidents are not random.

On January 29, 2023, at 5:23 p.m., officers responded to the hospital for a report of a seriously injured male. From there, they were directed to a hotel suite at the Manwin hotel in the 600 block of Main Street, where they located 40-year-old Carl George Wescoupe, who had been fatally injured. 

A few days later, on February 1 at 10:10 p.m., Winnipeg Police were called to a hotel in the 800 block of Main Street where a male had been stabbed. They were then directed to a residence in the 100 block of Selkirk Avenue, where they located a deceased 40-year-old male, Lee James Boulette.

Three suspects, 39-year-old Kurtis Joseph Diallo, 31-year-old Robert Shawn Murdock and 54-year-old Ernest John Young, have all been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of aggravated assault. 
 
They remain in custody.
