The Winnipeg Police Service charged three teenagers after a teenager was shot while at the Red River Exhibition festival Monday early in the evening.

On June 20, 2022, just after 7:00 p.m., West District General Patrol officers, along with the K9 Unit and Tactical Support Team, responded to the Red River Exhibition Park at 3900 Portage Avenue for a report of a shooting.
 
Upon arrival, officers located an injured 16-year-old male being tended to by on-site emergency medical services. The victim was transported to a hospital in critical condition and was later upgraded to a stable condition.
 
At approximately 7:23 p.m., a taxi cab was stopped in the area of Tyndall Avenue and Burrows Avenue. Three individuals were taken into custody, and a loaded handgun was recovered.
 
Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation. It is believed that the shooting occurred after an altercation.
 
A 17-year-old male of Winnipeg has been charged with:
 
- Aggravated Assault
- Assault with a Weapon
- Discharge a Restricted Firearm or a Prohibited Firearm with Intent
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
- Possession of a Weapon
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
- Fail to Comply with Sentence (x2)
- Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order (x2)
 
A 15-year-old female of Winnipeg has been charged with:
 
- Aggravated Assault
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
- Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Possession of a Weapon
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
 
The two were detained in custody.
 
A 17-year-old male of Winnipeg is facing charges of:
 
- Aggravated Assault
 
He was released on an Undertaking (as mandated by the Criminal Code).
