The 67th Winnipeg Scout Group has had a record-breaking Christmas season, selling the most trees to date.

"It was really crazy and kind of intense at the end of November and the first few days in December," says Doug Strang, the group commissioner with the 67th Winnipeg Scout Group. "We ended up running out of trees a couple of times and having to close up, then open a few days later."

Strang says this year the group saw a huge demand for live Christmas trees.

"To date, we have sold more trees than we have ever sold in the past. The demand has been there but luckily we've been able to get enough."

As of Tuesday afternoon, the tree lot run by Scout volunteers has about 300 live trees left for people still looking for one.

"I think it is true that there was a shortage of trees, however, it's not true that there are no trees."

Anyone wanting to purchase a tree can do so in the evenings during the week from 4:30 - 9:00 p.m. at the River Heights Community Centre on Grosvenor Ave. On Saturday they will be open from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and Sunday from noon until 6:00 p.m.
