Five teens are facing a slew of charges after a traffic stop on the weekend also turned up guns and drugs.

The Winnipeg Police Service says that officers in the downtown noticed a vehicle travelling the wrong way down a one-way street at 12:40 a.m. Saturday.

Officers stopped the car in the area of Fort Street and Graham Avenue, and the driver was unable to provide a licence or registration. He also was evasive with officers and provided a false name. After further investigation, the five occupants of the vehicle were placed under arrest.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a .22 calibre handgun, along with a magazine containing nine rounds of .22 calibre ammunition. A small amount of crack cocaine and approximately $1,945 in Canadian currency was also seized. The driver was found to be in possession of a knife.

The 15-year-old driver of the car is facing a total of 13 charges, including Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle, and Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking. He was also processed on two outstanding arrest warrants for Fail to Comply with Sentence (x5).

The other four passengers were 18 and 19-years-old. They all face a number of firearm and drug charges as well.
