Russell RCMP are investigating a farming incident that claimed the life of a 55-year-old man from Roblin.

Emergency crews, including RCMP officers, were called to Provincial Road 592, near Road 140N, in the RM of Riding Mountain West, just before 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 3.

Police say a 55-year-old man was operating a combine and heading southbound on PR 592 when it lost control on an icy downhill portion of the road, slid into a steep embankment and rolled onto its roof into the water.

A witness, who was operating a combine in front of the victim, jumped into the icy water, pulled the victim from the cab of the combine and provided medical assistance until emergency crews arrived. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Russell RCMP continue to investigate.
