A local nursing student is working to help bring awareness to the need for winter clothing for Winnipeg's vulnerable population.

"I'm running this donation drive with three other students. We are all fourth-year nursing students," says Danielle Pajarillo, a nursing student at U of M as well as a volunteer at Agape Table.

Since September the group has been volunteering at the ministry.

"It's been great getting to know the community from first-hand experience rather than just by looking from the outside. I've been telling my friends that it's really different compared to hearing it on the news," says Pajarillo.

They are having a winter drive to help community members.

Poster for Agape Table Winter clothing drive

"Agape Table serves bagged breakfasts in the morning. We noticed a lot of our guests are in need of winter clothing."

Anyone interested in helping can drop off donations of jackets, toques, mitts, or scarves for men, women, and children at Agape Table at 364 Furby St.

"We have been asked specifically for socks as well."
