After a couple of years of cancelled tours and concerts, five-time Grammy® award-winning artist Steven Curtis Chapman is back on the road.

"It's so good to be with people and to get to have that opportunity to have the conversations that I love to have that music has afforded me all these years," said Chapman.

'An Evening with Steven Curtis Chapman' has been so well received that additional dates were added from March 26 through April 10.

"What's been special in the concerts is to see in the eyes of people, the message that I am blessed to get to share and sing in my concerts," Chapman explains. "After 35 years, songs that have been a part of people's weddings, at youth group, you hear all those stories. I get to see people remembering. I get to see smiles I get to see tears."

Storytelling is a big part of Steven's current tour, giving the audience a more intimate experience.

"Recently a lady came to me and she told me she loved Christian Music and that it was one of the ways that she deeply connected with God," said Chapman. "But then she went on to say she lost a child, she lost a daughter. She says the grief from that, the weight of that, the anger at God, the sadness stopped her from listening to the music she loved."

That was until Steven decided to speak openly about experiencing the tragic loss of his youngest daughter in 2009.

"She said watching me wrestle through that and walk through that in my music, helped her to reconnect back to her heart, and it gave her something to hold on to again," Steven explains.

Steven says what's great about the music that he gets to make is that we're not just remembering where we've been, but where we're going.

"There is this hope and reality right now. Even though the world is in such a crazy place, God is faithful and good. Let's remember that, and then we can remember it for what tomorrow is gonna be, as unknown as it is."

Steven Curtis Chapman is currently writing new music and is getting set to release a new project later this year.

"For the first time in about nine years, I am going to release a new album, which I am very excited about," said Chapman. "I'm writing new songs which have come from these last several years in my journey in life and just the things I've been thinking and experiencing."

Today on Connections, Steven shares what it's been like to be back out on the road and what's up next for him.
