Motorists will have to find a new route as the Arlington Bridge has now closed for two weeks of maintenance.

The Arlington Bridge between Dufferin Avenue and Logan Avenue will be temporarily closed for two weeks for maintenance, beginning at 6 a.m. on Monday, September 21, until 6 a.m. on Monday, October 5.

The 108-year-old bridge was closed for two weeks of maintenance work last fall, as well as shorter closures for repairs as problems popped up.

The City of Winnipeg says pedestrian access will be maintained.

Motorists should allow for additional travel time, and use alternate routes such as the McPhillips Street Underpass or Slaw Rebchuk Bridge to reach their destinations.

The City says that the bridge is nearing the end of its useable life and is in process of designing a new bridge.
