Police say it could be a scam if you receive a text message or email stating BellMTS sent you money.

The Winnipeg Police Service says they have received reports of text messages appearing to be from BellMTS stating "BellMTS sent you money." This text is followed by a URL.

"If you are not expecting a transfer or if it seems too good to be true, it likely is," the WPS says in a statement on Facebook.

Their Financial Crime Unit says if receiving a text or email for money, or a package you are not expecting, it could be fraud

They say to not click the link and if unsure to contact the company directly.

"If you have fallen victim please contact the Winnipeg Police or make a report online."
