A 10-month-old has succumbed to his injuries, becoming the second victim of a tragic car crash.

The Winnipeg Police Service says the youngest passenger of a vehicle struck by a fleeing vehicle has died.

On September 26, at 1:30 p.m. in the area of Main Street and Boyd Avenue, officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle then sped away and within seconds crashed into a second vehicle at the intersection of Andrews Street and Boyd Avenue. At the time, a woman in the struck vehicle was killed in the crash.

The 10-month-old in the second vehicle has died from his injuries. The Winnipeg Police Service says at this time additional Criminal Code charges have not been laid but are expected to come in the upcoming days.

A 43-year-old suspect is currently facing six separate charges from this incident.

The struck vehicle's other two passengers survived.
