A Bible camp in western Manitoba will be receiving help this year thanks to generous farmers and their crops.

Turtle Mountain Bible Camp is one of seven organizations selected to receive funding from this year’s community fundraising crop near Deloraine, Man.

Every year farmers and volunteers in the area get together to raise a crop to benefit local groups.

The organizations picked to split the money sell tickets to support acres of the community crop.

Kathy Weir is co-director at TMBC and she says they have to sell 50 tickets.

“Our responsibility is to sell 50 acres and each acre costs $100. People can go together with other people or make the purchase in honour of someone or a celebration of something like a birthday or anniversary.”

Weir adds last year the groups split $26,000.

“We will use any funds we get for playground equipment and also finishing off a kitchen item to finish off our kitchen. We got our occupancy finally and we are super excited about that. We can enjoy meals in there at our own family tables."
