There is resounding evidence that people are hungry for the word of God, most recently from the number of Bible podcasts listened to.

Taking the No. 1 spot is The Bible in a Year podcast put on by Catholic priest Mike Schmitz. This is in the U.S. on Apple's podcast charts. It is the second year in a row that this podcast has taken the lead.

"By the grace of God The Bible in a Year podcast has helped hundreds of thousands to rediscover a biblical worldview – one of hope in God's love and Divine will," says Schmitz in an interview

The Connections podcast: real life, real faith

The podcast follows Fr. Schmitz reading a passage of the Bible and then providing commentary, running roughly 20 to 25 minutes each episode.

In the No. 2 spot, beating out other podcasts about sports, news, or pop culture, is The Bible Recap hosted by Tara-Leigh Cobble.

"I LOVE that so many of you want to read the Bible with us!" she says on her Instagram.

Her Bible podcast episodes are short and to the point, running for roughly 8 minutes.
