Christians are highlighting the civil rights work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on his birthday.

Monday, January 17 marks MLK's birthday. He would have been 93 years old this year.

The American Baptist minister led many Americans in the civil rights movement, often preaching in his speeches about racial injustice. He was assassinated on April 4, 1968, in Memphis.

His oldest living son, Martin Luther King III, became a human rights advocate and Christian leader.

His son spent the day discussing voter suppression.

Rapper and singer Lecrae shared a post from his own record label, Reach Records. The post thanks MLK for "advancing the cause of justice and the Kingdom of God."

"While we honor and reflect on Dr. King’s life, message, and legacy, let’s also consider how we can all move toward seeing each other, hearing each other, and loving each other," Wells writes on Instagram.
