The role of Agriculture is switching hands, giving the former minister time to focus on his constituency and special projects.

Blaine Pederson, MLA for Midlands, has served as Minister of Agriculture and Resource Development since 2019.

"Being in Cabinet is just a tremendous experience as but it is very demanding," Pederson says. "I am 67 years old right now and it is time to start the slowdown. I had the honour of serving in Cabinet again for a couple of years but now is the time to step back."

Pederson, who has decades of agriculture experience, replaced MLA Ralph Eichler. Eichler has now returned to this role.

"I have a few projects that I know of that I would really like to promote within government in the next couple of years."

As he leaves Agriculture and Resource Development, Pederson is focusing more on his constituency, but also on some community projects.

"I know that the Premier has a couple of special projects for me to do," he says. While Pederson is unable to share what those projects are, he says he will be in touch with people on how to bring the projects forward.

Pederson is set to retire from provincial politics after his current term.
