The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are the 2019 Grey Cup champions!

Winnipeg dominated the CFL's championship game from the very beginning and defeated the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 33 - 12 to claim their first Grey Cup since 1990.

On just the fourth play of the game, Winnipeg Blue Bomber Brandon Alexander intercepted a Dane Evans pass. It was the first turnover of seven the Bombers forced in the game, including a game-sealing forced fumble late in the fourth quarter.

The Bombers' defence, led by Willie Jefferson and Jackson Jeffcoat, dominated the Tiger-Cats offensive line throughout the game, recording six sacks, forcing three fumbles, and picking off Evans twice. The Tiger-Cats, who led the league with 26.1 points per game during the regular season and put up 36 in the Eastern Final, only found the endzone one time and added two field goals.

Winnipeg-native Andrew Harris led the offence, running for 134 yards and picking up two touchdowns. Harris was named the Grey Cup Most Outstanding Player and the Most Outstanding Canadian, becoming the first player in CFL history to win both awards in a single Grey Cup. Fellow Winnipegger Nic Demski added 45 yards through the air.

The Blue Bombers won their first league title in 29 years, when they beat the Edmonton Eskimos 50 - 11. The team last made the Grey Cup in 2011, losing 34 - 23.

The Tiger-Cats now hold the title of the longest Grey Cup drought in the CFL, having last won in 1999.
