After 110 years, Calvary Temple is still preaching and sharing God's word and they want to celebrate that this weekend.

On May 5, 1907, in the North End on St. John Avenue, Calvary Temple was founded during a prayer meeting. The founder of the prayer meeting was A.H. Argue. His grandson, Dr. Don Argue and his wife Pat, are coming to speak at Calvary Temple this Sunday, May 7 at 9:00 a.m., 10:10 a.m., and 11:30 a.m.

That will be followed by a nostalgic concert at 6:00 p.m. and a dessert fellowship in the Banquet Hall at 7:00 p.m., where people will be sharing about lives being transformed over the decades at Calvary Temple.

"People who have attended here in the past are certainly welcome," Pastor Bruce Martin urged. "We'd love to have many friends join us."

Martin said that amazing pastors and leaders have been a huge influence in driving the church through the last 110 years. Watson Argue, the son of A.H. Argue, was the pastor during the 1940's. He was instrumental in buying the building they are currently in.

Another pastor, Pastor Barber, was the one who got Calvary Temple on the radio and on television. Pastor Barber spent 40 years there before Martin took over the leadership role.

"We have people from all over the world, 57 birth nations," said Martin. "We believe [in] reflecting in the community, reaching into the community, and doing church in between Sundays.

"Reaching out and caring for people and got has helped us and things are alive and well."
