The well-known country singer Carrie Underwood is surprising fans with her first-ever gospel album coming out this spring.

Underwood has often talked about her Christian faith while in the spotlight and has even recorded some Christian singles. These include 'Jesus Take the Wheel' released in 2005 and 'Something in the Water' in 2014.

She also acted the role of a youth group leader in the film 'Soul Surfer', who helped the main character with her faith after a crippling surfing injury.

The upcoming faith-based album is titled My Savior and will be released just in time for Easter 2021, featuring some of the artist's favourite gospel songs.

Underwood released her first Christmas album in 2020 called My Gift, which included a duet of her and her son Isaiah on 'Little Drummer Boy'.

"When I was making this music, I felt like my soul was in such a great place, I wanted to keep making music like the music off of 'My Gift," says Underwood on her Instagram.

She says that the gospel record is like a companion to her Christmas album.

"This album is full of gospel hymns that I grew up singing. It's been such a blessing to make music like this," says Underwood.
