Churches can no longer display the Ten Commandments in parts of China.

According to Barnabas Aid, Churches in the central Chinese province, Henan, are under pressure by authorities to remove the Ten Commandments.

In their place, authorities are instructing churches to use quotes from President Xi Jinping.

Every church registered in the state, as well as every city meeting venue in a the country of Luoyang has received these orders to no longer display the Ten Commandments.

Barnabas Aid reports the situation is part of the authorities' continued campagin to bring Christianity in line with Chinese influence.

Churches that have not obeyed have been shut down. Other churches who have refused have been informed that their congregants will be blacklisted. Should this happen, affected Christians will be restricted through travel, education, and employment by the Chinese authorities.

Sinicization continues in other areas in China. The words Bible, God, and Christ, for example, have been removed from classic novels such as Robinson Crusoe that are featured in Chinese textbooks.

Barnabas Aid requests prayer for Christians in China who endure this removal of their faith from the public eye.

The organization also encourages Christians to express praise that the number of believers in China continues to grow despite persecution.
