The TOS Church and Conference Center find their van melted and front entrance spray-painted on Friday morning.

"Feminist Autonomous Cell" is claiming responsibility for the early Friday morning vandalism. The vandals visited the church sometime during the night. The Swabian Daily Newspaper reports a congregation member noticed the fire after hearing a loud pop. The town's emergency services were able to contain the blaze that morning. A video posted to the TOS Facebook page shows the van smouldering after the fire was put out.

They estimate that 40,000 euros ($58,000 CAD) worth of damage was done to the property.

The church says they have been experiencing threats for the past few months and believe they are being targeted for their evangelical practices.

"The atmosphere is becoming more and more intolerant towards and aggressive," says Bitner.

The church has 13 other congregations across the world but the Tübingen location was the only one targeted.

"The attack is cowardly and despicable. Even if no people have been harmed, I very much hope that perpetrators will be held accountable," says Tübingen Mayor Boris Palmer in a Facebook statement.

The church reopened on Wednesday for their regular church programs and their annual Jewish Channuka services after their community gave their assistance cleaning up the building.

German authorities are currently investigating the incident.
