An investigation is underway after a Tuesday morning explosion and fire occurred in South Point Douglas.

On Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. in the first 100 block of Higgins Avenue, emergency crews were called to the scene of a fire and explosion.

When arriving, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews found a  temporary structure completely engulfed in smoke and flames.

After the fire was extinguished, one person was found dead. There were no other injuries.

The City says they believe the cause of the explosion was aerosols igniting.

Crews are continuing to investigate.
