Social distancing at home is “really rewarding” for Manitoba’s clean comedian Matt Falk.

Before COVID, as a professional comedian, Falk was so busy performing shows that there wasn’t much time to be creative and write new pieces. However, the downtime has recently given him the needed time to jump head first into creating new material.

As he considers getting back to being on stage with a live audience, he says “That’ll be weird, getting to perform in front of actual human beings. I’ve been doing all these online shows where I’m telling jokes and hearing absolutely no response.” Jokingly Falk adds, “It’s like the whole first five years of my career again. ”

The last show Falk performed was at Rumors Comedy Club in Winnipeg back in March right before everything shut down. He’ll be there again in July, but before that, he’s been asked to perform for a nearby graduating class with a small group.

“I am eager to get back on stage and hear audience laughter in real time.” Falk shares, "As much as you want to manufacture [laughs] with these online shows, it doesn't compare to a live show."
