Winnipeg Police are investigating what looks to be a hit and run of a truck and cyclist early this morning in the downtown area.

At approximately 5:00 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a cyclist at the intersection of Erin Street and Sargent Avenue.

Officers located a seriously injured male in his thirties. He was transported to the hospital in critical condition, where he remains.

An initial investigation indicates the cyclist was struck by a garbage truck at this intersection, which subsequently drove away.

Investigators from the Traffic Division seek the public’s assistance in identifying the truck and the driver. Anyone with information that can assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-7085.
