The Canadian Cancer Society is hosting their 60th annual Daffodil Days this week across Canada.

The spring flowers will be on sale this week for $7 a bunch in about 170 communities across the province, and the proceeds go to fund life-saving research that is cutting edge, and various programs that helps Manitobans receive cancer treatment.

Hazel Quinton, a cancer survivor, has been selling daffodils for 38 years as a way to give back to the Canadian Cancer Society. "When I look back on it now, I see that lives have been saved because people bought daffodils," she said.

John Douglas, the executive director of the Canadian Cancer Society, gave an example of two volunteers that have stayed with this program after they were diagnosed with cancer. "They know what a bright spot the daffodil provided them," he said. "It seems like they are buying something to cheer up your day, but the reality is you're having a huge impact in the cancer fight as well."

The daffodils will be on sale for this week and weekend, including all Real Canadian Superstore and Walmart stores.
