Canadian-born Christian artist Dan Bremnes releases his new acoustic album today called Wherever I Go (Acoustic Sessions).

While Bremnes was born in B.C., his musical career has taken him, his wife, and their two children stateside where they now reside in Nashville, TN.

The album consists of 10 songs, nine of which are songs he's previously released, now as acoustic versions. One song is brand new, and half of them are collaborations with other artists.

"As we were just finishing up recording, literally the last day, is when the COVID stuff started happening." Bremnes says.

"One of the songs that's released [today], is a song I did with Mike Donahey from Tenth Avenue North, he did some guest vocals on it. I was supposed to go in and do some background vocals to his second verse, and the studio owner said, 'Sorry, we're not having anyone in anymore.' So it was that close."

His previous work was often upbeat and had a driving force. This album has a different feel to it.

Bremnes says it's "Going back to the roots of where I started and where all these songs started."

One of the tens songs on this album includes a collaboration with his wife, Britt Bremnes.

"It's called 'Going Together' and it's actually a song I wrote for her, so that's why I wanted to have her sing on it."

Reflecting on that process with his wife, Bremnes says, "It was really special. I had to talk her into it because she can sing really [well], and she used to sing way back in the day, but she just didn't believe that she was a really great singer. So I said, 'Come to the studio for two hours and let's see if we can pull it off.' I have to give her props because she did it scared and it sounds amazing. I think she's glad she did it now. It's one of the special tracks for sure."

The song talks about the Bremnes' relationship story; how he proposed, got married, moved to a new country, and had two kids. The idea is that no matter what the couple does or where they go, that they are 'going together'.

Since he had just finished a new album when COVID hit, and playing shows was put on hold, Bremnes found a new project focused on his family life.

"We bought our first house ever, and it's a big project renovating it. Since I lost all my tours, I've basically been working on our house from sun up to sundown."

He's hoping to be back in Canada on tour in the spring of 2021.

When it comes to this album that's more laid back than previous ones, Bremnes says, "I hope that people can plug in and relax to some very chill music."
