Efforts have failed to end Daylight Saving Time in Manitoba. Emerson MLA Cliff Graydon had introduced a Private Members Bill aimed at stopping the biannual time change.

The bill has been defeated by a count of 34 to 5.

"I am disappointed that the government has such disregard for those affected by the switch, that they did not give it an open airing," says Graydon. "Considering that it saves lives and does not cost the government anything, I do not understand why parties were opposed, and why they would not listen to the public."

Graydon says since introducing the bill he has received thousands of phone calls, emails and messages of support from Manitobans.

He refers to the time change as disruptive and says it causes traffic accidents, heart attacks, mental health cases and workplace injuries.
