A new film from Dolly Parton is not shying away from Christianity.

Parton is playing the part of an angel in her latest venture Dolly Parton's Christmas on the Square. The Netflix musical follows the story of a scrooge-like woman played by Christine Baranski.

"Seasonal cheer comes to a screeching halt when a cold-hearted woman tries to sell her hometown's land. Can music, magic and memories change her mind?" Netflix's description of the upcoming film says.

The town in the musical is decorated for Christmas and features dancing residents.

In the video trailer, Baranski's character is seen evicting town residents as they sit in church.

Parton's character is shown guiding Baranski's character to Christianity in the trailer.

"You find that light, and it will lead you to the part of you you have lost," Parton's character says over the image of Baranski's character pulling out a well-worn Bible.

The movie also features Jenifer Lewis, an actress who has been involved in movies such as The Preacher's Wife and Sister Act.

The Christmas musical will feature 14 original songs by Parton, who released her new Christmas album, A Holly Dolly Christmas, on October 2.

The one hour and 38-minute film is directed by Debbie Allen. Dolly Parton's Christmas on the Square will be released on Netflix on November 22.

The singer has recently begun joining Christian artists on their tracks, including on Zach William's "There was Jesus." That track gave Parton her first song in the top 10 of Billboard's Hot Christian Songs and Christian Airplay charts.
