A school bus driver is in hospital in stable condition, but with "serious injuries," following a collision with a gravel truck on Wednesday morning.

The RCMP says that the collision occurred on Provincial Road 227 at Road 5 W, one mile west of Warren, Man around 8:30 a.m.

"The school bus was travelling southbound on Road 5 W when it entered the highway and was struck by the westbound gravel truck," Sgt. Paul Manaigre says.

Manaigre also says that students were on the bus at the time of the collision. "Two students were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening physical injuries. The other students were picked up by parents."

STARS transported the female bus driver to a hospital in Winnipeg.

As of 10:50 a.m., officers remained at the scene.
