Dry conditions and warming weather have prompted the Manitoba Wildfire Service to impose burning permit restrictions in the southwest part of the province.

Campfires are allowed in approved fire pits in provincial campgrounds.

But restrictions are in place for all other parts of the region including Spruce Woods Provincial Park, Spruce Woods Provincial Forest and surrounding Crown land, as well as Turtle Mountain and William Lake provincial parks.

The service says the province will not issue any burning permits within or areas bordering any municipality that has its own burning restrictions in place.
