Today is the 50th anniversary of  Earth Day.

Every year on April 22nd, people across the country recognize and celebrate Earth Day, one of the largest environmental events in the world.

The goal is not only to promote Earth Day just once a year but to connect people to nature every day.

And although we are dealing with the COVID- 19 pandemic and all the restrictions that come along with it, there are still many ways that we can participate in the Earth Day festivities.

“Despite the challenges posed by COVID-19, cancelling Canada's Earth Day was simply out of the question. To mark the occasion, we have prepared some original programming that will allow citizens to participate from their own sofas," explains Pierre Lussier, Director of Earth Day Canada.

In honour of the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, the organization Earth Day Canada is inviting citizens to take simple and concrete actions at home.

Today on Connections, Lussier will share with us the importance of Earth Day and ways that we can get involved.
