A 99-year-old woman says “God shows me something new every time” she reads the Bible.

At the beginning of 2020, a pastor from Brentwood Baptist Church in Tennessee asked parishioners to commit to reading the Bible this year.

The Baptist and Reflector says that the pastor had questions for Helen Tyler (Miss Helen) after she was the first to sign up. She then told the pastor that is would be her 61st time reading the Bible all the way through.

"You’d think I’ve heard these stories, but every time I read it or hear it being read, I catch something new,” her pastor, Jay Strother, recounts to The Baptist and Reflector.

Miss Helen will reportedly turn 100 in March.

Only four in ten American Christians consider reading the Bible to be necessary according to a study done by the Pew Research Center in 2014.

Many Christians are calling 2020 "The Year of the Bible."

Thousands of young Christians have committed to reading the Bible cover-to-cover in 2020 and hundreds of churches across the globe are pledging to join the movement.
