Originally from Canada, Nashville-based artist, Elias Dummer will be coming back to his homeland to perform in September.

Dummer was the lead singer of The City Harmonic based out of Ontario, where he grew up.

"When you're in a band, everything's collaborative. You're working together on something and there's a lot of good things that come along with that, as iron sharpening iron. But sometimes the weird ideas you have get sanded off," he says.

In 2017 the band split and Dummer entered the world of Christian music as a solo artist. He also made the move down to Nashville with his wife and their five children.

"With the first record, I was really flexing a lot of muscles that I didn't have a chance with City Harmonic. On the second record which we're working on now, I really started to introduce collaboration. Working with people in a much more intense way than I did on the first record."

Dummer released his latest single 'Expectation' back on July 8, 2021. He calls it a 'call to worship for the rest of us.'

"When people come together at church, they're often coming from really different places. You've got people at the front, their hands are in the air before you've done anything. My experience as a worship leader, that's not really who I'm there to shepherd and lead. I come there for the guy at the back of the room with his arms crossed or the mom who's super frazzled."

He explains that was his inspiration for this new single, that people would come and enter a time of worship with expectation, no matter what is going on in their lives.

"I happen to believe that each and every one of those people can come to worship together in expectation that God will meet them as they are, and not let them walk away unchanged."

Dummer's next singles are collaborative and include work with Land of Colour, J. J. Heller, and Citizens. The Work Vol. II is set to be released in February 2022.

For Manitoba fans, Dummer will be performing at Fun with Family Day near Portage la Prairie on September 4 at 7:00 pm. Jake Fretz and Manic Drive will also be performing at the event.
