Winnipeg Police remain at the scene of a house fire in the North End that started late Wednesday evening.

Just before 11 p.m., fire crews responded to a vacant two-storey home in the 400 block of Pritchard Avenue near Salter Street.

When crews arrived at the scene, they found heavy smoke coming from the house. Due to fire conditions and damage from a previous fire, crews were unable to safely enter the structure. They attacked the fire from the exterior of the house using an aerial ladder to apply water to the fire.

The house is considered a complete loss. WFPS will continue to extinguish hotspots until the house has been demolished. Pritchard Avenue will remain closed until work at the scene is complete.

Occupants from one neighbouring house are temporarily evacuated as a precaution. No injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
