Emergency crews were called to a two-vehicle collision on Friday evening at the intersection of Highway 12 and Greenland Road.

Ste. Anne Fire Chief Bob Saindon says they were called at 10:15pm.

“Two of our members live close by, so they gave us a quick update and they were saying that we needed STARS,” he says.

However, due to the weather conditions that evening, the air ambulance was not able to fly.

“Upon (our) arrival at the scene, it was determined that two adults were deceased and the other passenger in that van needed to be extricated,” Saindon reports.

A female adult was transported to Winnipeg hospital in serious condition, he says, and the driver of the other vehicle, a car, was transported to hospital for observation.

“The RCMP requested a traffic analyst to come out to determine the exact cause of the accident,” he says. “Our department was on scene for about five hours.”

Southbound lanes were closed during that time and traffic was rerouted.

Further details are not available at this time.
