Almost two years ago, Ann Mainse, host of the Canadian Christian television program A Better Us, and former host of 100 Huntley Street received a devastating phone call from her doctor informing her of a cancer diagnosis.

"In 2019 when I went for my regular mammogram, they discovered a shadow," said Mainse. "That led to more testing, which led to a biopsy and on June 10, 2019, I was all alone in my house (my husband was at a tournament two hours away) and my doctor called me with the results and she said, Ann, your biopsy shows cancer cells."

This left her speechless and scared and she began crying out to God.

“The very day I received my breast cancer diagnosis, I sensed strongly that God wanted me to journal my journey as a way of processing what He would reveal to my broken, yet open, heart. Over time, as I privately did this, I sensed that someone else could be helped by what God’s Spirit was revealing to me and began sharing my devotionals publicly through Facebook,” noted Mainse. “Before long, thousands were tracking with me and many encouraged me to put these thoughts into a book.

That led her to create her devotional, Coffee with Him, which she hopes will help others going through a similar situation

Since then, she has created a new devotional, Coffee with Him, in hopes of helping others who may be going through a similar situation.

In this book, she openly details the trials and triumphs, fears and tears from her own experience fighting cancer and invites readers facing the tough twists and turns of everyday life to receive comfort, courage, hope and healing from God.

Today on Connections, Ann Mainse shares her story, what it was like to receive that diagnosis and what life has been like since then.
