A man is facing a string of charges after an arrest warrant led to the discovery of a large number of shotgun shells, and a gun stored underneath a bed.
The Winnipeg Police Service says on Sunday, their Guns and Gange Unit executed a search warrant at an apartment in the heart of St. Boniface. When arriving at the 400 block of Langevin Street home. Officers arrested the 36-year-old man inside, finding him to have $4700 in cash and a small amount of methamphetamine on him.
When searching the apartment, officers found a large number of shotgun shells, along with a 12 gauge shotgun found underneath the bed. Further investigations found more methamphetamine, drug packaging materials and scales.
The 36-year-old suspect is facing five charges including:
- Possess Weapon
- Careless Storage of Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
- Possess Proceeds of Crime Under $5000
- Possess Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Methamphetamine)
He is in custody.
