Canadian Tire has recalled over 25 thousand electric corded snowblowers due to an electrical hazard.

Health Canada issued a recall notice on Tuesday, urging consumers to immediately stop using the Yardworks 15-Amp Electric Corded Snowblower, 22-in, because the power cable on the affected units may become brittle and break when exposed to temperatures below -20 degrees Celsius, leading to a potential electric shock injury.

The affected snowblowers were sold between March 2019 and December 2021, and in March 2022, some batches of the snowblower had already been recalled. That list has since expanded.

As of February 10, 2023, the company has received 11 reports of incidents relating to the power cord becoming brittle and breaking in Canada. However, no injuries were reported.

A full list of the affected products can be found here.

Anyone with one of the recalled snowblowers is encouraged to stop using it and return it to any Canadian Tire store for a full refund.
