Herman Dyck at the age of 83 went home to be with Jesus on December 30th at the Portage General Hospital surrounded by his family. Herman was born in Rosthern, SK on July 7th, 1940 to John W. and Agatha Dyck. He accepted Christ and met the love of his life Frances Friesen in 1961 despite surviving a life threatening accident that same year. In 1962, Herman & Frances got married and shortly after became parents to 4 daughters. The family moved several times and called Manitoba home whilst dairy farming.

Herman had a passion for hunting and fishing and taught his children and grandchildren to do the same. A lot of great memories were had as a family because of Herman’s love for these activities. Herman was a prayer warrior and loved spending quiet time talking to Jesus and praying for everyone. The last 1½ years of his life were the toughest due to some unfortunate health issues but despite this, Herman & Frances’s love only grew stronger. Herman was determined to get through the struggles so he could have more time on earth with his family.

He will be dearly missed by all. He is predeceased by his daughter Diane (2010), brothers, sisters and inlaws. He is survived by his wife Frances, daughter Brenda (Carl) Ens and their children, Karla (Jonah) Sawatzky, Jared Ens, and Jennifer (Andrew) Wilton; son-in-law William (Ruth) Unrau and his children, Brenten (Jody) Unrau, Jodiene (Jeff) Early, and Janae Unrau, and Ruth’s children Aaron Buhler and Pam (Joel) Dale; daughter Shirley (Dwayne) Hildebrandt and their children, Deanna (Josh)
Lemieux, Cora Hildebrandt, and Kyle Hildebrandt; and daughter Myrna (Philip) Unrau and their children, Jairus Unrau, Destiny (Byron) Wiebe, and Jadon (Jessica) Unrau.
In addition he is survived by his brother Bill Dyck and by his great grandchildren Felicity, Ezekiel, Zephaniah, Selah, Douglas, Maia, Lelund, Luna, Caitlyn, Oliver, Kezia, Amy & Jaylynn. Our family would like to give special thanks to the MacGregor ambulance attendants and the Portage General Hospital staff for the quick response that Herman received. In lieu of flowers and cards, donations may be made to Valley View Bible Camp, 60070 Rd. 60 North Site C, MacGregor, MB R0H 0R0.
