If you've been tuned in, you'll know we've recently been featuring Lauren Daigle performing her cover of "Wake" by Hillsong Young & Free. What you might not know - and what we only just discovered - is just how many times fans have covered her music!

You might not think this is unusual, but see for yourself. There are a LOT of covers.

Youtube covers are by no means a new thing, but, regardless, I still think each is meaningful - it means that people have really internalized the emotions and ideas contained within and expressed by a song. To learn, rehearse, perform, and record a song takes time, effort, and skill - and you don't just cover any old song. You cover a song that means something to you.

If you listen to the lyrics, "How Can it Be" expressed very simply and eloquently the full impact of who Christ is and how what he has done is not something that can be easily rationalized - there is an element of unbelievability to the idea that forgiveness, mercy, and grace can truly be found in abundance. It doesn't really make sense in the same way other things 'just make sense.' And once that paradoxical truth is experienced firsthand, you can't turn it down. Quoted in Eric Metaxas' biography, this is how German Theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer puts it:

"Should, however, there be something in Christ that claims my life entirely with the full seriouness that here God himself speaks and if the word of God once became present only in Christ, then Christ has not only relative but absolutely, urgent significance for me."

So... enjoy these covers of Lauren Daigle's "How Can it be!" There is an unbelievably endless amount of them on youtube, and I have picked five which I feel stand out for various reasons. My favourite is Amanda Joy, because she sings it with her mom. Enjoy!

Lydi & Adri - Twins singing beautiful harmonies!

Mark De Gracia - Sing it, bro!

Jediah Gray - She has got some silky soul sounds...

Amanda Joy - Awesome duet with her mom!

Rachel Brown - Really consistent and polished performance.
