YFC's Camp Cedarwood is thrilled to have a 'full house' of campers this summer but they are in need of staff and volunteers to make it a reality.

Cedarwood, located near Pinawa, Man., will be welcoming a full group of campers once again this summer after two quiet summers. The camp is affiliated with Youth for Christ (YFC) and offers a Biblically-based summer camp program for kids of all ages.

"It's been pretty quiet here and that's not typical," says Sarah Wolfe, the Summer Program Director at Camp Cedarwood. "A lot of times I just missed this place being alive with kids and staff. The past two years did give us time to do some renovations and rework who we are and what we're doing but for the most part it's been quiet and sad."

Wolfe has been working at the camp for 16 years.

"It's really exciting news that we're going to have summer camp again. I love youth ministry, having fun, and building relationships with kids and sharing the gospel. That's what we're all about."

A Time of Growing Faith

The leadership of the camp decided to keep staff at the camp to continue their discipleship program. Otherwise it's been mostly quiet with the exception of a few families renting out cabins.

"The past two years have been a time for us to rely on God and really see that it's Him that provides, the staff, the people, and the things that we need," says Wolfe.

In the quiet the staff came together to not only work on exterior renovations but spiritual ones as well.

"We've done lots of praying for the people that we need here. We have a time of prayer before lunch every day. We spend half an hour praying for different things that people request."

Cedarwood is in need of staff and volunteers for July and August. Anyone interested in a position can find the information and applications here

"We're looking for camp counsellors, kitchen help, maintenance help and that can be volunteering for a week or working for the summer with us. We're also needing nurses or medical professionals. We're open to seeing what God brings us with people."
