Granger Smith is making a massive career change.

In a social media post late last month, Granger Smith announced that after 24 years of touring, this summer will be his last.

"I have felt a strong desire to pursue ministry. This doesn't mean I am going to start a church, or a crusade, or a revival. This means that me and my family are going to serve our local church. We're going to pour into that church as members, and have my pastors and elders pour into me, and disciple me and teach me as I sit under their wise teaching," said Smith in a video.

Granger said he is currently attending seminary at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, where his pursuing a Master of Arts.

"Lord willing, one day they can affirm me into the next steps of what that might look like to glorify God best from my platform," said Granger in a video on social media. "Lord willing, I want to be used to help people find their purpose."

Smith is also currently preparing to release a book, Like a River, on August 1, 2023.

"It's about when we lost our son River to when we had Maverick and everything in between that the Lord did and the radical way of opening my eyes."

He says this has been a time of learning and growing for him.

"I am so hopeful about the future and what it holds for me."
