The Manitoba RCMP says two people are dead after they were found in an ice fishing tent on the Red River over the weekend.

Officers were called to the Red River near Selkirk on Saturday after the pair was found unresponsive in the tent.

Police say that a man and a woman, both 52 and from Winnipeg, were taken to hospital and pronounced dead.

An RCMP spokesperson says carbon monoxide poisoning is a possibility, but the cause of death won't be confirmed until an autopsy is done.
