Alex Trebek has died less than two years after being diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

Trebek, the host of the iconic game show, "Jeopardy!," was 80.

Diagnosed in March 2019, Trebek has remained optimistic with repeated messages of hope about his ability to beat the disease.

Trebek has also frequently referenced his reliance on faith since his diagnosis.

A post made by "Jeopardy!" on Twitter announced Trebek's death.

"'Jeopardy!' is saddened to share that Alex Trebek passed away peacefully at home early this morning, surrounded by family and friends. Thank you, Alex," the statement reads.

After his initial diagnosis in 2019, the beloved and warm host announced he planned to beat pancreatic cancer, despite its low survival rates.

"I'm going to keep working. And with the love and support of my family and friends, and with the help of your prayers, also, I plan to beat the low survival rate statistics for this disease," Trebek announced.

The Ontario-born host had a significant career in game shows, even before he began his 37-season run on "Jeopardy!" Trebek hosted shows like "Double Dare" and "High Rollers" earlier in his career.

However, Trebek's greatest claim to fame remains the 8,200 episodes of "Jeopardy!" he hosted, even after his cancer diagnosis.
