After seeing so much division, Fresh IE and Elevate are hoping to bring the community back together in unity.

Stan Hamilton is the planner for the upcoming event Spread the Word IV happening on April 8, from 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. Hamilton also goes by the stage name Staush aka Elevate.

"I wanted to put on an event for the city," says Hamilton. "There's been a lot of division and mistrust between a lot of people and I just wanted to bring everyone together."

This is the fourth event of its kind and although in the past this was a ticketed event, Hamilton wants to make sure there are no barriers when it comes to having people connecting once again after the pandemic. Therefore this is a free event.

"Spread the Word is a community event, a concert, bringing in not just music but speakers too. In the past, we've had improv groups and I want to bring in comedians in the future. The idea is to be a variety show, not just a music, hip-hop, or worship show. There will be some testimonies shared as well."

Robert Wilson, also known as his stage name Fresh IE, will be performing at the event. This will be his first in-person event this year to a crowd of people.

"This will be my first time in front of a crowd," says Wilson. "I'm not nervous but I've been going through my songs just to make sure I remember everything. It's like learning how to ride a bike again. I always end up giving it full tilt when I get on stage, the lamb turns into a lion."

Another group that will be performing is a blues band called Robert Andreas and The Redemption Band. Hamilton is hoping the young and old alike will come together for the event.

"I'm hoping people get encouragement as we gather together," says Hamilton who will also be performing at the event. "No more separation, no more divide through finances, race, creed, or political opinions. I believe joy can bring people together in a way that hate can't. We want an evening where everyone can just enjoy each other's company."

People who will be attending the event at Winnipeg Centre Vineyard can come with a mask or without, according to Hamilton. Whatever is most comfortable for each person.

"I'm excited to be a part of it," says Wilson. "And to have great acts including Robert Andreas, Jamie Giesbrecht is going to be there, Jake, another guy named Nappy Music. Of course, Stan will perform his music as well. It's going to be a great night."

April will be a big month for Fresh IE as, on top of performing in front of people for the first time in a long time, he is releasing a new album The Wind and the Waves on April 22.
