Christian actor Kirk Cameron is encouraging believers to kick off 30 days of strong faith through prayer.

COVID-19 has changed the lives of people across the world, particularly over the past week.

It's been an "interesting last week," Cameron says.

In an online video, the actor shared that he and his family have been home, "watching the news like everybody else," and "trying to figure out what the new normal is going to look like for the next month or two, or three... who knows."

Cameron shared his tour for Living In Reset has been postponed. He and his team are currently in the process of rescheduling all affected dates.

With people everywhere struggling to adapt their lives to a newly-isolated version of what it was, Cameron wants to challenge believers to join with him in prayer to "strengthen your faith and send fear running."

Through the video, posted to Instagram, Cameron invites Christian to "appeal to heaven together with intensity and intentionality for the next 30 days.

"I wanted to share some thoughts with you," Cameron says.

"I've noticed, as I'm sure you have, that there is a spirit of fear that is everywhere. A spirit of anxiety."

Seeing people wearing masks while grocery shopping, waiting in line to enter stores due to limited store capacities, and people keeping their distance from in an effort to minimize physical contact creates "the desire to give somebody a hug or let them know it's going to be okay," says Cameron.

But this desire is interrupted by the unnatural knowledge that social distancing is the way to truly protect each other from the spread of COVID-19.

"I wanted to share a message that I was challenged by," says Cameron.

Speaking about a sermon about fear delivered by Pastor Allen Jackson from World Outreach Church in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Cameron speaks about how fear is an "intruder that doesn't have a body but someone who wants to set up shop in your mind.

"But they were not invited and they are not welcome," says Cameron.

Cameron says the best way to combat this unwelcome guest of fear is to pray together.

"I would like to pray together with you for the next 30 days. We're going to be home, we've got more time together with each other than before ... a lot of us have got our kids at home. What a great time to pray."

The actor reminds viewers that despite the constant onslaught of negative and scary news, we serve a God who is in control.

"We have a God who is on his throne who never slumbers, he never sleeps, and he's not intimidated by the reports. He's not frightened by the coronavirus," Cameron says.

"He's not intimidated and we trust him. And because of that, we don't need to respond and react in fear. We can have faith in response to fear."

Cameron says to trust that God will use this virus to create stronger faith in us, to refocus us and to "reformat our thinking" during times of uncertainty and self-isolation to rely on him.

Those interested in praying along with Cameron over the next month can check the actor's Instagram each day for a new prayer as part of the challenge.

"Continue to be faith strong and continue to pray, to reach out to your neighbors, to your family," says Cameron.
